SoCal Buckeyes,

It is with mixed feelings that I will be stepping down as President of our OSULA club. With a growing family (third girl on the way), I am looking to put more focus on my family. I believe our club has made significant steps forward in the two years I have been president although I am not satisfied with staying where we are. The great part is we have the kind of leaders in Ryan Whitacre (our current Vice President), Dan Stover (current Treasurer) and Amanda Van Frank who has been in her secretary role since before I was President, along with our entire board that can take the bull by the horns and continue to take us as a club to the next level.

Until our next vote for office, Ryan will be taking over as our Interim President.

Nevertheless, I will still be available for you if you need me. Feel free to contact me any time with questions, concerns or if you just want to chat. I’ll see you at some of our awesome upcoming events.

Sincerely,

Maurice “Mo” Hall
Outgoing President, OSULA

Dear Fellow Buckeyes,

It is with great honor that I step into the role of Interim President of OSULA for the remainder of the current term to serve you, our amazing family of Buckeyes in Southern California.  I would like to thank Maurice for his strong leadership over the past two years, pushing our Club forward to try to engage with all of you on a more meaningful level.  Along with the rest of the Board, I look forward to continuing those efforts to bring you an amazing series of upcoming events, opportunities to support new Buckeyes through our scholarship program, and help you connect with fellow Buckeyes.

Over the next few months, we’re going to be taking some new steps to reach out to all of you to gather your feedback on what types of events, activities, and opportunities matter the most to you and would create the most value for your membership in OSULA.  I would love the opportunity to chat and listen to all of your great ideas, so please feel free to reach out via email or phone at any time.

To help you get to know me a bit better, here’s the story of me and my family.  I’m originally from Bethel, Ohio, a small town about 30 miles east of Cincinnati.  I graduated from Ohio State with a B.S. in Architecture in 2005 before moving to California to attend UCLA, where I received a Master of Architecture in 2009.  I am an architect at Gensler in Downtown Los Angeles, where I design stadiums and arenas, which is quite literally my dream job.  I live in La Mirada with my wife Arielle, our four-year old son Grey, three cats, two turtles, and seven fish.  We are currently expecting our second son named Sage, due July 15.

Warm Regards and Go Bucks,

Ryan Whitacre
Interim President, OSULA
