2011-12 OSULA Scholarship Recipient: Congrats to Santa Clarita’s Mark Lampert Graduating in May as Proud Buckeye!

Santa Clarita, Calif. (Valencia High School) —

My time here at OSU has surpassed all of my expectations.

Coming here as a freshman (living in Barrett House on North Campus with the Biological Science Scholars), I did not know what to expect.

Being so far from home, it was a big adjustment, and I’ll admit that I was initially homesick for my first quarter. However, after getting adjusted and looking back on my 4 years, I don’t think I could have attended a better university.

Going to football games in the fall and experiencing the often-electric atmosphere (special shout-out to the Wisconsin game in 2011 and National Championship run this year) are experiences that I won’t soon forget.

I soon joined a fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and have had a phenomenal experience in that organization, becoming Vice President of Philanthropy in my junior year.

I have participated in two Buck-I-Serv service trips to both Florida and Texas, served on the Homecoming Court in 2014, and studied abroad in England.

In short, Ohio State has provided me an opportunity to experience many different things in my 4 years here.

Looking towards graduation, I will (although I haven’t formally accepted yet) be attending graduate school in the fall at UC San Diego seeking a Ph.D. in the biomedical sciences.

Although I only have a few months left in Columbus, I feel proud to know that I will soon join the ranks of the alumni and be a Buckeye for life!
