Archie Griffin and Brutus Buckeye enjoy some Southern California sun at the 2014 Annual OSULA Summer Kickoff BBQ at the Calabasas Country Club.
Approximately 210 Scarlet and Gray clad OSULA members, Buckeye Family, Friends and Fans were on hand to hear the ONLY two-time Heisman Trophy Winner and President and CEO of the Ohio State University Alumni Association, Archie Griffin, speak at the annual OSULA Summer Kickoff BBQ & Club Meeting on Sunday, August 3, 2014.
The Annual OSULA Summer Kickoff BBQ was attended by approximately 210 club members and Buckeye faithful.
It was a very special evening of socializing, mingling, live entertainment, door prizes and great food in an outdoor patio setting at the beautiful Calabasas Country Club. Additionally, the festivities featured the election of the new OSULA Board of Directors and Officers for 2014-15 and the honoring of several Special Award winners.
Buckeye great Archie Griffin was recognized as OSULA’s inaugural “Legends Award” winner. Also receiving awards were OSULA’s “Person of the Year Award” selection Barbara Pinchuk and the club’s “Friend of OSULA Award” recipient Sheldon Pinchuk. Long-time Buckeye alumni Mary P. Millar, as well as Claire Griffith also received special recognition.

The OSULA Board of Directors for 2014-15 was elected by club members in attendance, including several first-time members. Returning to the board are Robert Banta, Mark Goldberg (vice president), Christi Hovest, Jill Rufo, Barry Smith, Carrie Smith (secretary), Scott Snapp (president), and Shaun Swiger and Cathy Tierney (treasurer). New “Young Bucks” elected to the board for the first time were alumni Melissa Barcena, Donald Carter, Ricky Darling, Nick Elliott, Josh Goldberg, Nathaniel Ross, Elana Staehli, Amanda VanFrank and Ryan Whitacre.
