Hello SoCal Buckeyes!

It is OSULA’s great pleasure to announce a very special event for club members and Buckeye fans and friends on Saturday, July 9, at the historic Los Angeles Central Library, an event limited to the first 30 individuals who sign up.

Los Angeles Central Library

Los Angeles Central Library

The Library is hosting a special exhibition that will help visitors learn more about what propaganda is and how to counter it in today’s information-saturated world. “State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda,” produced by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, explores how the Nazis used propaganda to win broad voter support in Germany, implement radical programs, and justify war and mass murder. This most extreme case study emphasizes why the issue of propaganda matters and challenges citizens to actively question, analyze, and seek the truth.

OSULA’s special event begins at 11 a.m. and is FREE of charge, with everyone meeting in the garden, and all participants are asked to first meet in the garden.  The event will be held in two segments — the first segment being a private guided tour of LA’s historic library, followed by a private tour of the “State of Deception.” After the two tours, we plan to gather as a group for lunch at the Bunker Hill Bar & Grill (W. 5th and Grand, across street from library) where all attendees will receive a discount.  Parking below the library is $1 with validation, and is valid until 5:30 p.m.

The limited-time-only exhibit draws visitors into a rich multimedia environment vividly illustrating the insidious allure of much of Nazi propaganda and challenges visitors to think critically about the messages they receive today.

This critically acclaimed exhibit will only be on display through August 21, 2016, at the Central Library, located at 630 W. 5th St. in Downtown Los Angeles (90071). Parking with a Library Card is $1 for the entire day.  If you do not have a Library Card, you may obtain one upon your arrival at the Library and they also are free of charge.

Due to the Library’s 30-person limit for this outstanding OSULA event, we ask that you sign up for this as soon as possible to avoid being shut out. The link to register is: https://osula.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=87&club_id=62139&item_id=541706

Please join OSULA for this special event as we respectfully revisit this dark time in world history. We look forward to seeing you there!
